The Fergus Falls boys basketball team will be looking to advance to the state tournament for a third straight year as they open the 2017-2018 season, the third for Head Coach Matt Johnson.  Last season the Otters were 27-5 overall and won the consolation title in the Class 3A State Tournament, after taking runner-up honors the year before.

Letter winners Harrison Christensen, Matthew Johnson, Nathan Rund and Austin Stanislawski are all returning, with seniors Jacob Marvel (G), Marshall King (F), Noah Raitz (F) and Eric Salveson (G/F), juniors Nic Pearson (G), Bauer Rogelstad (G/F) and Ashwin Stratton (G/F), and sophomore Ethan Olson (F) all steppint up to the varsity.

"We return a nucleus of strong players with great experience," acknowledge Coach Johnson.  "Beyond those returners, we lack experience, but we are excited about the opportunities others will have to step into supporting roles.  There are a number of players that can step in and help.  As always, buying into the defensive side of the game and excelling in their roles will be vital for us to become the best team that we can be."

Johnson will be assisted by Keith PearsonDave RundJosh Grove and Ryan Johnson.

He sees Alexandria and Sauk Rapids-Rice as top challengers in Section 8AAA.
